In this class, I harnessed collective creativity and diverse perspectives to achieve innovative solutions for real-world design challenges. Research informed my work as I investigated diverse case studies, evaluated client needs, and engaged in collaborative problem-solving. Creative solutions to specific design problems move across media and modalities to maximize creative potential.
Project 3: Spaces That Inspire
Working in a small team, my group and I created a visual narrative for a real-world client. The content of the video can be anything so long as it’s appropriate, professional, and in keeping with your client. We researched the brand 'Uber Eats' and made the following video. Editing by myself, script by Aidan Cahill, and voice-over by Maya Thompson.
Project 3: Spaces That Inspire
Working in a small team, my group and I designed a shared environment for the Atlanta Beltline. The assignment's goal was to foster creativity, collaboration, and effective interaction, considering both functionality and aesthetics.
Through research and analysis, we determined that a rest stop/area with shaded areas and an art museum would benefit the Atlanta Beltline, seeing as they don't have many spaces for patrons to rest without having to spend any money.
Completed Atlanta Beltline Rest Area floorplan by Angie Lei.
I completed thumbnails to help illustrate the space of the rest area in different spots. Also, completing these thumbnails allowed our group to visualize what shot we wanted to sell to our client to sell the idea of the rest area.
Another thumbnail of the entrance/rest area with vines to decorate the tarp-like wall.
Another thumbnail of the zen garden, including the circular garden near the entrance.
Using my group members' thumbnails, I based my sketches on the spaces they created and incorporated their visions into the soace and with my style, tied all the areas together before settling on the following three thumbnails to expand upon. These are separate views of the curved hallway with glass windows that display a seasonal art exhibition of sculptures.
The final image was made with Bristol paper, Micron pens, and Copic markers before I scanned and edited the image in Canva, adding individual silhouettes and potential sculptures that can be displayed in the curved hallway.
This is the final 'money shot' to advertise this space.
