YEAR 1 - FALL 2025
FOUN-112 | Color In Context | Professor Miller-Bellairs
BookWorm TV
This was a collaborative project in which the class was divided into multiple groups and given the task of creating a fake brand based on a single color. For this project, the color "Candy Apple Red" was chosen, and from that color was born "BookWorm TV," a streaming service/interactive website designed entirely for kids.
PRELIMINARY PLANNING
Tasked with creating the logo, I started with brown scrap paper, cheap colored pencils, and a Sharpie to experiment with red objects and things that are used to symbolize primary school/education.
DESIGNING THE LOGO
Moving over to Procreate and using the thumbnails for Wormy the Worm, I experimented with different color schemes and the logo's silhouette while checking in with my team before finalizing on a more desaturated color scheme and checking the values with a value test.

Sketchbook Painting Exercises
During the course of the class, we were assigned color theory experimentation using acrylic paint, and using only basic cadmium yellow, cerulean blue, cadmium red, mars black, and titanium white acrylic paint. With these paints, various tints, shades, tones, and hues were achieved to see how these colors interact and how to implement different color schemes into future projects.
FOUN-111| Sketching and Drawing | Professor Labra
This studio art class included three main projects that are included below.
This class helped to build essential skills that creative professionals use daily. In this course, the skills developed included perceptual drawing skills acquired through direct observation, emphasizing techniques for accurately sighting, measuring, and applying theories of perspective. Through hands-on exercises, I learned to capture proportions and spatial relationships, building the foundation to sketch and visually communicate ideas with clarity and confidence quickly.
PROJECT 1
First completed still-life, charcoal and graphite.
Using the still-life objects in the classroom as a reference, this project highlighted the importance of sighting and measuring for accuracy, as well as how light and shadow drape around objects. The two-point perspective, core shadows, and cast shadows were the emphasis for practice.
PROJECT 2
Preliminary Thumbnail Sketches
Using pen, I created these thumbnails based on the Florida capital, both the 'Old Capital' and 'New Capital.' These were also completed quickly, as I spent no more than 2 minutes on each thumbnail to experiment with composition, direction, and layout.
"Living Building: The Florida Capital", pen, marker, and colored pencil.
PROJECT 3
Preliminary Thumbnail Sketches
This project emphasises 'personal image' and so in researching what objects I wanted to include in my personal still life, I settled on my crochet bunny, laptop, pencil case, and leather journal. For these thumbnails, I used both pen and pencil.
"Personalized Still-Life," charcoal and graphite.
